While Kelly & Nikki were taking care of Landon, Lindsay, my Mom and I travelled to Chewelah to check up on Kelly's folks house. Their home is on the 3rd fairway of the Chewelah Golf Course and as you can see, there is lots of snow! Lindsay had a great time! I also had to grab a couple of photos of the lot next door, as we are in the process of purchasing and plan to build a home there within the next 5 years.

Kristin's house
Lindsay and Nikki had fun today playing in the snow at Kristin & Jesse's in Spokane. We also had to get our 4 generation photo starring "Landon", along with Great Grandma Fenn, Grandpa Fenn and Mommy Morris. Kristin and Landon are doing just great! Jesse is a wonderful dad and gets to stay home for a whole month with mommy and son.

Almost to Spokane
On Sunday morning we left Yreka, Ca and a 12 hour trip to Spokane. We ended up in a snowstorm while crossing a couple of mountain passes on I5 near Mt. Shasta, 28 degree clear weather near the Portland area and 9 degree weather while crossing the Columbia River entering Washington State. The trip was well worth it as we were able to say hi to Landon, Kristin and Jesse in Spokane. What a handsome little man Landon is!

Heading to Spokane
Today we left a cozy, warm Yuma en route to Spokane, Wa. Our Daughter Kristin has started labor and we want to see our new GRANDSON as soon as we can! Lindsay and Nikki quickly packed their things and off in the truck but no 5th wheel in tow. After 2 hours of a 22 hour trip, Lindsay said she was tired reading and looking outside and decided to rest her head in a pillow. Around noon today, Kristin was admitted to a local Spokane Hospital as Landon David is determined to make an appearance today!
More updates to follow....

Summer fun in Yuma
Today it was 82 degrees and we even had to use the A/C! Lindsay couldn't help herself and had to find water, sand and a bucket to keep her dinosaurs cool. The flowers are growing great here. For you gardeners, use Miracle Grow every 7 days for great flowers! I'm not sure how I'm going to take all of these with us when we head out in February. I'm probably going to give some to the next door neighbor and my mother in law too!

Trip to Quartzite
We ventured 90 miles north of Yuma to a town of Quartzite. If you like hundreds of retired folks, lot's of great food, thousands of RV's and 20 unemployed hippies, this is the place for you! The girls were able to buy a few "bling" things and I even managed to get an official Arizona t-shirt. The trip was fun but I don't think we would choose to camp here.

Trip to Tempe
We travelled today with Kelly's mom & dad (Noel & Nancy) to Tempe Arizona. We had lunch with Noel's Sister Dorothy and were able to visit with several of Kelly's cousins. On one of our family vacations many years ago, we had the opportunity to stop at Dorothy's house and swim in her pool! We remember the weather being around 108 degrees and one of my Daughters, Kimmy, spent the better part of the day in the pool or tanning (burning). Dorothy keeps her house immaculate and is a wonderful hostess!

Golfing in Yuma
Dad has fun every Tuesday morning golfing with his Father in Law Noel, and Al & Hooter (two retirees from the Republic area). This is one of Yuma's public golf courses (par 3) and we are usually the first ones there. It is so nice to be able to have some good fun and conversation with geniune folks!

Lunch at Lutes
Once we were safely inside the confines of the Arizona state border, we stopped off at Lutes Casino for lunch. The rustic interior of the casino is a must see for all and the food was great! Warning: some photos on the walls are not for viewing by the weak at heart, folks on their first date, your pastor or children under 18 1/2.
Trip to Mexico
We had a fun time at Los Algadonas Mexico this morning. Grandpa and Grandma Johnson were our tour guides, well sort of...grandma had a appointment with a local dentist. I have never seen so many dentist, doctor's offices and pharmacies all in one place! As you can see, prescription medication here is discounted about 60%, so many folks take advantage of the discounts. I'm not too sure if I'd visit the "tooth implant" dentist though. The one sign I saw advertising for a local dentist had what appeared to be a rather large drywall screw with the crown of a tooth on the top. If that was suppose to make me run into the dentist's office, it didn't work. I quickly found a Mexican Starbucks and bought a triple latte....I think I'd rather just drool and eat oatmeal than have someone use a 19v drill with a drywall screw on my jaw!
Our girls were able to buy a couple of gifts that didn't set them back too much and Kelly was able to buy a very nice table cloth for our dining room table. The girls also got to show their passports at the border crossing which was another highlight of the day.

Happy New Year 2009!!
We celebrated the new year at the Johnson's, although the "ball dropped" at 2200 hours Yuma time. I'm so glad they had TV with the east coast channels. Those poor folks in New York looked very cold to me! No sense staying up until midnight when we can celebrate 2 hours sooner.
We had a relaxing day today, playing Mexican train dominoes, taking a bike ride, playing the wii and washing the truck (yes in January!).
Kelly made her wonderful CHICKEN ENCHILADAS and Mom made her world famous APPLE PIE! Both were so good you just had to lick the plate clean!! More to follow tomorrow as we head to Los Algadonas Mexico to "shop".
